Maintenance FAQs
How do tenants submit maintenance requests?
Tenants submit issues or upgrade requests right in the app using a structured form that captures photos, notes and urgency. You get the full picture up front so you can decide quickly — no guessing, no endless back‑and‑forth.
What kind of maintenance requests can a tenant make?
Maintenance requests are categorised into urgent repairs (burst pipes, dangerous electrical faults, gas leaks), regular issues (leaking taps, broken fixtures, glazing, door/lock repairs) and upgrade/improvement requests (blinds, dishwashers, air‑con servicing). Tenants can attach photos or videos to every request so you see the context and can use that media to invite and compare quotes in‑app.
Can I approve, reject, or ask follow‑up questions on requests?
Yes. From the same tidy workflow you can approve or reject requests, ask for more info, request quotes, or assign work to a trade. Everything stays in one traceable timeline so nothing vanishes into email limbo.
Can I find tradespeople to action maintenance requests in the app?
Yes — use your saved, trusted contacts or tap Mint’s wider provider network to invite quotes. Compare options side‑by‑side, assign jobs to a preferred trade, and schedule the work — all from inside the app.
How are emergency issues handled?
Urgent requests are flagged and jump to the top of your queue. If you’ve set emergency trade contacts and budgets, tenants can have critical work actioned within your specifications immediately. If not, you’ll see the alert and can dispatch or approve fast.
Does Mint support cost‑sharing for upgrades?
Yes. When a tenant requests an upgrade you can propose a cost‑share in‑app. Mint records the agreement, manages the back‑and‑forth, and keeps a clear record of who’s paying what so there’s no awkwardness later.
How does quote management work?
Request quotes from multiple providers, compare them in a single view, and approve work from the timeline. Quotes, approvals and messages are all stored together so you can see the full decision trail at any time.
Can Mint schedule recurring maintenance and send reminders?
Yes. Set recurring reminders for gutters, electrics, smoke alarms, pool safety and more. Pick a preferred trade and Mint can schedule it for you, or you can manage it yourself — either way, nothing slips through the cracks.
Where do I keep my trades, contacts and project costs?
Keep all your trusted trades and maintenance contacts inside Mint. Group expenses into projects, track total spend, and see how improvements affect long‑term value. When you need a quote or want to assign a job, your go‑to providers are right there — no searching, no lost numbers.
